Instructed by Dr. Bandu N. Pamadi, Retired Aerospace Engineer, NASA Langley Research Center.
OVERVIEW
This 10-Hour course presents an extensive and integrated overview of several interrelated disciplines involving airplane performance. It covers the fundamental principles of airplane flight mechanics, to include materials on aerodynamics, dynamics, and control systems. It is intended for aerospace engineers, researchers, technical managers, and graduate students who are interested in learning more about this important discipline.
This course is based on the instructor’s AIAA textbook “Performance, Stability, Dynamics and Control of Airplanes”, Third Edition, 2015. (Textbook is optional recommended reading, not required for course.)
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Review the basic physical concepts and mathematical tools required for preliminary estimation of airplane performance, static longitudinal, lateral/directional stability and control, equations of motion, estimation of stability and control derivatives, airplane response and closed-loop flight control.
AUDIENCE: This course is intended for aerospace engineers and researchers, and/or technical managers who want to enhance their understanding of the fundamental principles of airplane flight mechanics.
MATERIALS: All course slides and additional references will be available for immediate download. Stream the 10-hours of video recordings anytime, 24/7. No part of these materials may be reproduced, distributed, or transmitted, unless for course participants. All rights reserved.
CERTIFICATE: Receive an AIAA Course Completion Certificate upon viewing all course recordings. Please contact Lisa Le for a certificate.
